Contemporary Romance

We don’t choose fate. It chooses us. Or so we are led to believe.
Holly Jenkins is about to receive a new heart, thanks to a donor match from accident victim, Chloe McQuade.
The victim’s boyfriend, Bad boy Jax, is angry and grieving for his lost love. He hates everything and everyone, including Holly. It isn’t until he meets her that he realizes there is something about her he
can’t explain.
Could it be the beating heart of his dead girlfriend – the very one he owned, that calls to him?
Is the intense pull towards Jax coming from Holly’s own emotions or are they Chloe’s? And why is she suddenly craving things she never did before?
How do they decide what’s real and what’s not?
Is fate at play or is it something more?

~My Thoughts~

I enjoyed this book. It was interesting for sure. You know, I didn’t realize that people were actually against organ donations. I am an organ donor and my thoughts on it were “If I am dead then obviously I won’t be using them so why not help them save a life not yet taken or help someone live a longer fuller life?” It was interesting seeing the other side. The side where people are against it. I just don’t necessarily understand it but like Holly we have to just accept it.

Holly is by far my favorite. She is always nice and treats people fairly. She doesn’t allow her disability to hold her back. Instead she continues to move forward and do as much for herself as she can. She is an inspiration. Always looking for the good in people. Just an awesome person that you can’t help but love.

My second favorite person was Jax’s friend, Micah. I like him cause he was immediately nice to Holly even though Jax was not and he told Jax he needed to quit being such an ass. You gotta love a friend that will tell you that.

There were a couple of parts that I didn’t like or agree with. For instance, after her heart transplant she starts having cravings for coffee when before she hated coffee. She all of a sudden wants her nails done. The pull she feels, or rather the feelings she feels for Jax. Now I may could get behind the idea of the feelings for Jax because when you truly love someone with all your heart and soul you feel it always in your heart. Seeing as the heart isn’t dead I can get behind that one. The coffee and nail polish though. I am not sure on. Does a person really change her own traits after a heart transplant? I truly don’t know and I haven’t done research to say yay or nay but for some reason I can’t seem to wrap my head around those. A new heart doesn’t change who you are. Or it shouldn’t. If a new heart changes you then who really dies in the end? Get what I’m trying to say?

Only other thing I didn’t like was the pacing. It just felt like it dragged on so slowly. Just dragged on. 😢 However, other then that I really enjoyed it.

For me I would rate this story 3 Stars!

I was born in NZ and raised in Australia where I’ve been living most of my life. My love of books came at an early age, introduced to me by my wonderful mother. I’ve always been an avid reader and writing became an extension of that. My favorite genres are paranormal, romance, erotica and some crime. I adore animals and I’m currently sponsoring a Malaysian Tiger through WWF. Cats in general, whether they be small house cats or larger wild tigers and lions are my favorites. I’d love to travel to Italy and Europe as well as Africa, Tibet and Nepal.
