After her best friend orchestrates the lie that destroys her reputation, Taylor wants more than anything to disappear from her life. But when an accident turns this unspoke wish into reality, instead of an angel-filled afterlife, Taylor must climb a seemingly endless staircase into the sky. Instead of going up, the journey plunges her into the past. As she unravels the mystery behind her friend’s betrayal, she must face the truth about life and find the strength to forgive the unforgivable — unless the staircase breaks her first.
I unfortunately did not make it through this book. I tried and tried but in the end I had to give this one up. I liked the story line and it had potential to be something great but it just fell short for me.
It started off good in present tense. Then there is mention of an accident but no real detail into it and all of a sudden she is in front of the staircase. So now she is presumably dead and in the afterlife except it just isn’t all that believable. She climbs and as she climbs her memories pop up and she takes a trip down memory lane only a little while longer to come out of the memory still climbing the staircase. So for the most part it’s ok. At this point my only complaints are the lack of detail regarding her accident and the fact that so far it just isn’t very believable. That is until Taylor becomes this whiney. It’s like she went from being a teenager to being a child. Me, me, me which to a point is fine because she is dead but then she starts getting whiney like I said and I just can’t handle whining. It drives me insane so I just couldn’t go any further.
