The slaughter of the Spartan Three Hundred at Thermopylae, Greece 480 BCE—when King Leonidas tried to stop the Persian army with only his elite guard—is well known. But just what did King Xerxes do after he defeated the Greeks?

Fifteen-year-old Thaleia is haunted by visions: roofs dripping blood, Athens burning. She tries to convince her best friend and all the villagers that she’s not crazy. The gods do speak to her.

And the gods have plans for this girl.

When Xerxes’ army of a million Persians marches straight to the mountain village Delphi to claim the Temple of Apollo’s treasures and sacred power, Thaleia’s gift may be her people’s last line of defense.

Her destiny may be to save Greece…
…but is one girl strong enough to stop an entire army?

~My Thoughts~

First off I absolutely love anything to do with Greek Mythology!! That’s why this one caught my eye. Once I opened it up and to read it I didn’t want to put it down. The descriptions in the book were just perfect they seem so magical. I could just imagine being there and looking around in awe. I love that feeling, the one of peace and calmness and this book describes a few of those places, especially when she is visiting Pan. Pan is a wonderful character. I really love Pan. The music he and Thaleia play, its like I could hear it in my head.

This book talks about the God’s and how they answer and for me personally I was able to take some of the things that Gail says about the Greek Gods and how they work through mortals for example along with other things she writes and see more clearly my own relationship with my Higher Power and how it should work. A book is always a good book when you can take things out of the book and apply them to your life. For me this book did that in a spiritual way. Now don’t get me wrong I am not preaching or anything I don’t go to church but I do have my own relationship with my own higher power and this book help me to better understand how the relationship between God and humans work.

I really enjoyed this book. It was filled with action and over coming obstacles that seem to big to overcome but in the end it’s happiness. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves mythology or anyone needing a spiritual reading.! I anxiously await the second book!!
