Growing up on a small farm in the kingdom of Vanguard, seventeen-year-old Layla Givens lives a deceptively tranquil existence. But her carefully constructed life quickly falls apart when she’s abducted by a religious zealot who proclaims her The Fulfillment of an ancient peace prophecy and whisks her away to marry her greatest enemy.

Wilhelm, Prince of the Ethereals, is reluctant to meet his new bride. He’s grown up believing Vanguards are evil, an enemy to fight and fear…not love. Can he set aside his prejudices and work alongside Layla to bring lasting peace after centuries of war?

Nash, a loner who has never fit in, carries a huge secret, one big enough to destroy both kingdoms. When he accidently meets Layla, he’s no longer content to live in the shadows, but he must resist his growing attraction—for her safety and for the longevity of the two kingdoms.

When Nash’s secret is revealed, a firestorm sweeps through both realms, with Layla at the center. Now she must choose between duty and desire while the fate of two nations hangs in the balance.

~My Thoughts~

Oh my! So to be honest I have no idea where to start with this review. Why? Because I just love it so much! I have absolutely found my favorite book for this year. This book is so amazing! I have gushed about it all on twitter, facebook, and to my friends already and now I get to gush about this book here and on amazon too.! I mean seriously there are so many good things about this book. I will try to calm my frantic brain so that I can elaborate on the awesomeness that is this book but to warn you I may fail and you may just hear or rather read a bunch of fan gushing! (Consider yourself warned!)

So first of all my attention was grabbed from the first sentence. Gray skies, bad omen. Yup I’m interested what’s going to happen next? A girl with raven black hair and purple eyes named Layla is the main character. Purple eyes! Purple eyes! Wow, how awesome! Never been done before but the contrast between the hair and the eyes I can just imagine the beautiful Layla! Second, normally I can see when a twist or turn or when something is about to happen in a book except with this one. I swear I was like “What, No Way, How could I not see that coming?” I was caught off guard every single time. There were so many twists and turns that I was kept very interested and I didn’t want the book to end. Every chapter was like its own scene in a movie, every chapter combined makes the whole big picture. At times I was so lost in a chapter I forgot about the big picture. Only to realize the big picture again so I was amazed at the little piece of the big picture because wow all those twists I just read and there are still more. Oh my what’s going to happen next? What will be the next turn, still to continually be amazed at where the twists and turns really lay. This book is packed with action! And also with description. I mean seriously, I can not brag about this book enough. I haven’t felt this way about a book in a long while. In fact I can’t remember EVER feeling this way, like I just can’t help but continuously (maybe ranging on annoyingly) brag about how awesome this book is. I don’t think I have EVER been this OMG about a book. Seriously!!

I love in chapter five after Layla discovers something that was previously unknown to her and she mentions having all kinds of emotions swirled in her at once. However what I love about this is that Erin doesn’t just stop there like most authors I’ve read. She doesn’t leave us to think of the emotions ourselves and try to figure out why, no, she names emotions herself and why this character she created, Layla, is feeling each emotion. Which for me, made me connect to Layla that much more. Like I said I have never read a book that actually went into like that. If there is another book out there I want to read it. But that was just amazing to me. It was just another wow for me. Something I had never seen done or have read before but it added so much.

Erin has her own style of writing that is so unique, so different, so fresh. I can not wait to read her next book The Outlanders. In fact I am probably, most likely going to go buy it right as soon as I am done writing this. Yup, that is exactly what I am going to do. I can’t help it I just have to have it. I am so glad I found this author. She is definitely one of my favorite authors!

~Final Thoughts~

I want to reintegrate how much I loved this book. First off it was my favorite book that I have read all year! Hands Down!! Secondly, if you have not read this book I beg you ( yes I beg you, down on my hands and knees beg you pretty please!) PLEASE PLEASE go buy this book and read it. It will be the best money you have spent all year! Just .99 cents. I am so happy I got to read this amazing wonderful book! I know it would make an amazing movie as well!! I can’t wait to read the second book of hers and anything else she writes! Please do yourself a favor and read this book!! You won’t regret it! I swear!
