Jonas’s world is perfect. Everything is under control. There is no war or fear or pain. There are no choices. Every person is assigned a role in the Community. When Jonas turns twelve, he is singled out to receive special training from The Giver. The Giver alone holds the memories of the true pain and pleasure of life. Now, it is time for Jonas to receive the truth. There is no turning back.

My Thoughts:

I had to read this book before I watched the movie. I am a big read the book first before I see the movies otherwise I won’t read the book because I already know how it ends. However I still haven’t seen the movie. I plan to and I hope it is as good as the book. Yes, the book was really good. I love dystopia books! The giver is an amazingly written! In the world Jonas lives in everything is in order. Everyone knows what is expected of them and no one thinks of disobeying. My favorite part was after Jonas gets assigned to the Giver. Once they start his training. (I’m trying to write this review without giving any of the book away and I’m finding that hard to do. I don’t like spoilers and so I try very hard to not include them in my reviews.) I can’t imagine taking on all the responsibility the he is taking on, especially at twelve years old. It would definitely take its toll and fast (at least for me). I love this book!

Final Thoughts:

I was captivated into this book from the first chapter to the last. I kept wondering what would happen next and how was it going to end. I loved it. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone. I really enjoyed this book. I hope that others will or have enjoyed it as much as I have!
